Charles W. went to Sandusky Co, OH where he farmed for 7 years and came back to Wms Co where he married Clara Gunyan, 23 Aug 1885.  She was educated in Montpelier.  They lived for three years on the Chaney farm and then moved into Montpelier where they lived for one year and then they rented a farm where they lived for five years.  They then bought a farm of 40 acres where they lived as of 1920.  They were members of Mount Zion English Lutheran Church and he was a member of the board of trustees plus a member of Montpelier Lodge 547, Free and Accepted Masons and Knights of Pythias Lodge 502. He was a Democrat but has voted of late with Republicans. 9

Clara was a charter member of the Pythian Sisters and a member of Sodom Grange plus a member of the Eastern Star.9

He served in Co E 329th Infantry at Camp Sherman and then 83rd Division Supply Co when he left for France on 12 June 1918 and was discharged from there on 19 Apr 1919, spending 90 days in the hospital.9

 

 

Notes for Clarence McCoy (Child 2)

He failed to pass the physical on his first enlistment but later passed and was with his brother through the service and was discharged on 16 July 1919; he served in Co E 329th Infantry at Camp Sherman and then 83rd Division Supply Co and was sent to France on 12 June 1918.9

 

He was a retied carpenter @70Y upon his death in the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.  He lived at the Smith Hotel in Montpelier.10

She lived in E. St. Louis, IL in 1959.10
